Audio System
The audio system is enabled when the key is in the RUN or ACC position. The speakers are powered by the audio unit and the subwoofer is powered by its own amplifier. The vehicle can be equipped with one of the following audio units that is not repairable: M100CD AM/FM/CD, DM100 AM/FM/CD/cassette (premium), CD6 AM/FM/6-disc CD changer (premium), or the Visteon Navigation Radio (VNR) audio unit. The subwoofer is available with the CD6 or the VNR audio unit. The CD6 can be equipped with automatic volume control which adjusts the speaker output according to the vehicle speed.
The radio antenna receives AM and FM radio waves. The radio waves are sent to the audio unit through the radio antenna lead-in cable. The radio suppression equipment reduces engine ignition and electrical systems interference transmitted through the speakers.
