Gearshift Lever: Installation

2005 Ford Taurus SEL, 4D SedanSECTION Installation

  1. Position the gearshift lever assembly in the vehicle.
  2. Install the 4 gearshift lever nuts.
    • Tighten to 23 Nm (17 lb-ft).
  3. Connect the selector cable.
  4. Connect the shift cable.
    • Tighten the nut to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
  5. Adjust the gearshift cables. For additional information, refer to MANUAL TRANSAXLE/TRANSMISSION AND CLUTCH - GENERAL INFORMATION .
  6. Install the 2 console screws to the shifter base, the 2 front console center bolts and then install the 2 rear side console bolts.
  7. Install the floor console finish panel.
  8. Install the gearshift knob.
