Clutch Controls

2005 Ford Taurus SEL, 4D SedanSECTION Clutch Controls
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2006 Ford Escape. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

The clutch controls system consists of:

  • clutch pedal
  • clutch master cylinder
  • clutch slave cylinder
  • clutch hydraulic fluid tube

The clutch master cylinder transmits fluid pressure to the clutch slave cylinder which, in turn, presses the integral release bearing against the pressure plate, releasing the clutch disc.

The clutch master cylinder uses brake fluid and shares a common reservoir with the brake master cylinder.
