2005 Ford Taurus SEL, 4D SedanSECTION Test Procedure

  1. TU1 KEY ON ENGINE OFF (KOEO) AND CONTINUOUS MEMORY DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) P1145: VERIFY THAT THE CONCERN IS PRESENT 
    NOTE: Clearing the transaxle control module (TCM) DTCs will erase any TCM recorded freeze frame data. Make sure to record any TCM freeze frame information before proceeding any further. Refer to the scan tool instruction manual for freeze frame PID menu.
    • Clear and retrieve TCM continuous DTCs.

    Is DTC P1145 present? 

    Yes No
    GO to  TU2. GO to  TU6.
  2. TU2 CHECK THE FRZ_DTC PID FOR A DTC DETAIL NUMBER 
    NOTE: The FRZ_DTC PID is a freeze frame PID.
    • Access the TCM and monitor the FRZ_DTC PID.

    Does the FRZ_DTC PID indicate freeze detail number 41, 42, 61, 62 or 178 present? 

    Yes No
    INSTALL a new transaxle assembly. REFER to the AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE/TRANSMISSION - 6F35 . GO to  TU3.
  3. TU3 CHECK THE TCM TOTAL TORQUE DESIRED PID VALUE IN REVERSE 
    NOTE: Do not apply the brake pedal when recording the PID value because it may produce false readings.
