Halfshaft - Inboard, Ford: Disassembly

- Remove the clamps.
- Separate the front wheel driveshaft joint boot (3A331) from the inboard CV joint housing.
- Check the CV joint grease for contamination by rubbing it between two fingers. Any gritty feeling indicates contamination.
- Separate the CV joint from the CV joint housing.
- Remove the tri-lobe insert. Remove the grease from the outer race. Inspect the outer race and the CV joint (tripod assembly) for wear and damage.
- To install a new inboard CV joint housing assembly (3B436) (3B437)/front wheel driveshaft joint boot, remove the front wheel driveshaft joint (3B413) and boot. For additional information, refer to HALFSHAFT - OUTBOARDΒ .
- Slide the front wheel driveshaft joint boot off of the interconnecting shaft.
NOTE:
Other than the front wheel driveshaft joint boot, the interconnecting shaft and inboard CV joint housing are not repairable. Install a new assembly if worn/damaged.
