If any concerns are noted with the speedometer, stoplamps or horn, address those concerns by referring to their associated articles before continuing the speed control diagnosis.

Mechanical Electrical - Speed control cable
- Speed control cable connections
- Speed control actuator pulley cover
- Speed control actuator
- Smart junction box (SJB) fuse(s):
- 2 (15A) (stoplamp switch)
- 33 (10A) (speed control switch)
- 34 (5A) (speed control deactivator switch)
- Battery junction box (BJB) fuse:
- 35 (10A) (speed control actuator)
- Speed control switches
- Stoplamp switch
- Speed control deactivator switch
- Clutch pedal position (CPP) switch (manual transaxle)
- Digital transmission range (TR) sensor (automatic transaxle)
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Make sure the throttle linkage operates freely and smoothly when connected to the speed control cable and speed control actuator.
- Verify that the speedometer and the stoplamps function correctly.
- Verify that the speed control cable and the accelerator cable are attached, adjusted correctly, and not holding the throttle open or increasing the idle speed. Inspect the speed control and throttle cable routing. Make sure that nothing is interfering with the function of the cables.
- Check the wiring harness for obvious signs of shorts, opens, poor connections, or damage.
