Tie Rod End: Removal

2004 Ford Focus ZX5, 2.3 Z, StandardSECTION Removal
  1. Loosen the front wheel nuts.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to JACKING AND LIFTING .
  3. Remove the wheel.
  4. Loosen the tie-rod end locknut and remove the retaining nut.
    1. Loosen the locknut.
    2. Remove the retaining nut.

  5. Using the special tool, release the tie-rod end from the wheel knuckle.

  6. NOTE: Make a note of the number of turns used to remove the tie-rod end.
