NOTE: Numbers in parenthesis refer to numbers shown in illustration.
  1. Before proceeding, see SERVICE PRECAUTIONSΒ . Record radio preset frequencies for reprogramming (if equipped). Disconnect negative battery cable. Wait at least one minute to deplete backup power supply energy.
  2. CAUTION: To prevent damage to the driver air bag module, wiring harness or steering wheel do not insert any tool between the driver air bag module and the steering wheel.
  3. Turn the steering wheel to access the air bag module captive bolts. To detach the driver air bag module from the steering wheel, undo the captive bolts (1). See Fig 1. Detach the driver air bag module retaining clips (2). Disconnect the driver air bag module electrical connector. See Fig 2. Remove the driver air bag module.
  4. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten air bag module bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONSΒ . Connect negative battery cable. Ensure system is functioning properly. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECKΒ . Reprogram radio preset frequencies and set clock.
