Pinpoint Test H: The Traction Control Is Inoperative
Test Step
H1 CHECK FOR DTCS
- Key in OFF position.
- Connect the diagnostic tool.
- Key in ON position.
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: Self-test.
- Retrieve and document hard fault, continuous DTCs.
- Are any DTCs retrieved?
Result / Action to Take
Yes
Go to Traction Control Module DTC Index .
No
Go to H2.
Test Step
H2 CHECK THE ABS OPERATION
- Test drive the vehicle and carry out several anti-lock stops.
- Does the ABS operate correctly?
Result / Action to Take
Yes
Go to H3.
No
Go to SYMPTOM CHART .
Test Step
H3 CHECK THE TRACTION CONTROL OFF INPUT TO THE TRACTION CONTROL MODULE FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: Traction Control Module C135.
- Engage the traction control switch to the disable position.
- Measure the resistance between the traction control module C135 pin 38, circuit 91S-CF54 (BK/WH), harness side and ground.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms with the traction control switch pressed and greater than 10,000 ohms with the traction control switch released?
Result / Action to Take
Yes
INSTALL a new HCU. REFER to ANTI-LOCK CONTROL . REPEAT the self-test. TEST the system for normal operation.
No
Go to H4.
Test Step
H4 CHECK THE TRACTION CONTROL SWITCH GROUND
- Disconnect: Traction Control Switch C2267.
- Measure the resistance between the traction control switch C2267 pin 1, circuit 91-CF54 (BK/WH), harness side and ground.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Result / Action to Take
Yes
Go to H5.
No
REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
Test Step
H5 CHECK CIRCUIT 91S-CF54 (BK/WH)
- Measure the resistance between the traction control switch C2267 pin 2, circuit 91S-CF54 (BK/WH), harness side and the traction control module C135 pin 38, circuit 91S-CF54 (BK/WH), harness side; and between the traction control switch C2267 pin 2, circuit 91S-CF54 (BK/WH), harness side and ground.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms between the traction control switch and the traction control module and greater than 10,000 ohms between the traction control switch and ground?
Result / Action to Take
Yes
INSTALL a new traction control switch. TEST the system for normal operation.
No
REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
