Pinpoint Test B: DTC B1600 No Key Code Received
B1 INSTALL A NEW ENCODED IGNITION KEY
- Key in OFF position.
- Cut a new encoded ignition key.
- Install the key in the ignition and turn to position II.
- Program a new encoded ignition key. For additional information, refer to KEY PROGRAMMING USING DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT .
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: Clear PCM Continuous DTCs.
- Key in OFF position.
- Key in ON position.
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: Carry Out KOEO PCM self-test.
- Is DTC B1600 present?
Yes
GO to B2.
No
If other PCM DTCs are retrieved, REFER to POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) INDEX . If no DTCs are retrieved, exchange the PATS key cut for this test with the defective PATS key. TEST the system for normal operation.
B2 INSTALL A NEW PATS TRANSCEIVER
- Key in OFF position.
- INSTALL a new PATS transceiver. For additional information, refer to PASSIVE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM (PATS) TRANSCEIVER .
- Key in ON position.
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: Clear Continuous DTCs.
- Key in OFF position.
- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the diagnostic tool: Carry Out KOEO PCM self-test.
- Is DTC B1600 present?
Yes
INSTALL a new PCM. For additional information, refer to POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) . REPROGRAM the encoded ignition keys. For additional information, refer to KEY PROGRAMMING USING DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENT . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. TEST the system for normal operation.
