Torque Specifications




LH cylinder head
Tighten the cylinder head bolts in three stages in the sequence shown.
Tighten the bolts to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).
Tighten the bolts additional 90 degrees.
Tighten the bolts additional 90 degrees.

RH cylinder head
Tighten the cylinder head bolts in three stages in the sequence shown.
Tighten the bolts to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).
Tighten the bolts additional 90 degrees.
Tighten the bolts additional 90 degrees.
CAUTION: The cylinder head bolts must be discarded and new bolts installed and must be lightly oiled with a rag, and allowed to drain for a few minutes prior to installation.

Intake manifold
Tighten the bolts in two stages.
Tighten the bolts in the sequence shown.
Tighten to 2 Nm (18 inch lbs.).
Tighten to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).

Tighten the bolts in two stages, in the sequence shown.
Tighten to 2 Nm (18 inch lbs.).
Tighten to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).


Camshaft bearing cap bolts
Loosely install the 15 bolts.
Tighten the bolts in the sequence shown 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.)

Crankshaft main bearing bolts (cross mounted) a
Tighten fasteners 1 through 12 in two stages, in the sequence shown.
Tighten to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).
Tighten additional 90 degrees.

Crankshaft main bearing bolts (vertical) a
Tighten fasteners 13 through 24 in two stages, in the sequence shown.
Tighten to 30 Nm (22 ft. lbs.).
Tighten additional 90 degrees.

Connecting rod bolts
Tighten the bolts in two stages.
Tighten the connecting rod bolts in the sequence shown.
Tighten to 43 Nm (32 ft. lbs.).
Tighten additional 105 degrees.

Crankshaft pulley bolt
Tighten the crankshaft pulley bolt in four stages.
Tighten to 90 Nm (66 ft. lbs.).
Loosen 360 degrees.
Tighten to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.).
Tighten additional 90 degrees.

Exhaust manifold RH nuts 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.)
Tighten the exhaust manifold nuts in the sequence shown.

Exhaust manifold LH nuts 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.)
Tighten the exhaust manifold nuts in the sequence shown.

Flexplate bolts
Tighten 80 Nm (59 ft. lbs.)
Loosely install the bolts.
Tighten the bolts in the sequence shown.

Coolant pump

Loosely install the bolts.
