CAUTION:
If the components are to be reinstalled, they must be installed in the same position. Mark the components removed for location.
- Remove the spark plugs, if necessary. For additional information, refer to SPARK PLUG .
- Using the special tool, compress the valve springs.
- Remove the following:
- The valve spring retainer key.
- The valve spring retainers.
- The valve springs.
- Discard the valve stem seals.
- The valve spring seat and valves.
- Inspect the components, if necessary. For additional information, refer to ENGINE SYSTEM-GENERAL INFORMATION .
- To assemble, reverse the disassembly procedure.
CAUTION:
Lubricate the parts with clean engine oil before installing.
