1999 Ford Explorer 4WD V6-4.0L VIN ESECTION Module - Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS)
REMOVAL
1. Remove the passenger side airbag module.







2. Remove the Passive Anti-theft System (PATS) module and bracket.
1 Remove the bolts.
2 Disconnect the electrical connector.







3. Release the retainer tabs and remove the PATS module from the bracket.

INSTALLATION







1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

CAUTION: Once the new module is installed, it is necessary to configure the module.

NOTE:
^ Prior to starting the vehicle, check for PATS DTCs. Perform the appropriate pinpoint test.
^ When the PATS module is replaced, both ignition keys must be relearned and stored in memory. Insert each key in the ignition and turn to RUN for automatic programming.
