Timing Belt: Installation
1997 Ford Probe Base, StandardSECTION Installation
- Install timing belt. Rotate tensioner clockwise using an Allen wrench, and install tensioner spring. Ensure timing marks on crankshaft sprocket and engine block align. See Fig 1.
- Remove camshaft pulley holder, and ensure camshaft sprocket timing marks are still aligned. Rotate crankshaft clockwise 2 full revolutions. Ensure all timing marks align.
- If timing marks do not align, remove timing belt. Repeat steps Β 1 and Β 2 . To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Tighten bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONSΒ table.
