Before proceeding to communication DTC tables to diagnose a communication DTC:
- Review vehicle equipment level.
- Make note of modules and systems vehicle is equipped with.
Before performing any testing:
- Ensure DTC being diagnosed is referencing a module or system vehicle is equipped with.
- New Generation Star (NGS) scan tester may produce a communication DTC for no communication if vehicle is not equipped with suspect module or system.
- New Generation Star (NGS) scan tester will interpret a not equipped module as a communication failure.
- If a DTC is retrieved for a module or system vehicle is not equipped with, disregard this DTC.
- If the only communication DTC retrieved is for a module or system vehicle is not equipped with, self-test is considered passed.
