Remote Transmitter

1997 Ford Contour LX, 2.5 L, StandardSECTION Remote Transmitter

To program (or re-program) transmitter(s) into the remote/keyless entry module, perform the following steps:

  1. Turn ignition switch from OFF to RUN positions or from OFF to ACC positions 5 times within 10 seconds, ending in RUN or ACC position. All doors should lock then unlock to confirm that program mode has been entered.
  2. Press any button on transmitter. All doors will lock and unlock to verify remote transmitter has been programmed. Repeat this step to program additional transmitters. When finished programming all transmitters, turn ignition off. All doors should lock then unlock to confirm completion of programming. Check operation.

NOTE: The remote/keyless entry module erases all previous transmitters from memory when the transmitters are programmed or re-programmed. The remote/keyless entry module can store up to four transmitters in memory.
