Removal & Installation
1997 Ford Contour LX, 2.5 L, StandardSECTION Removal & Installation
- HCU is located underneath brake master cylinder. Remove brake master cylinder. See MASTER CYLINDERΒ . Remove brake booster. See BRAKE BOOSTER ASSEMBLYΒ .
- Disconnect HCU connector. Disconnect brakelines at HCU. Remove 4 HCU bracket bolts. Remove HCU from vehicle. Remove HCU-to-bracket nuts. Remove HCU from bracket.
- To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten hydraulic control unit fittings to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONSΒ . Fill master cylinder reservoir with DOT 3 brake fluid. Bleed brake system. See BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEMΒ . Operate brake several times. Check for leaks.
