Remote Transmitter

1997 Ford Contour LX, 2.5 L, StandardSECTION Remote Transmitter

To program (or re-program) transmitter(s) into the remote/keyless entry module, perform the following steps:

  1. Turn ignition to RUN or ACC position and momentarily short the two terminals of 2-pin program connector, located behind glove box. Horn will "chirp" to confirm programming mode has been entered. Remove shorting terminal.
  2. Press any button on remote transmitter. Horn will "chirp" to confirm remote transmitter has been programmed.
  3. Repeat step 2)  to program additional transmitters. Horn will "chirp" after each remote transmitter has been successfully programmed. Up to 4 transmitters may be programmed. Turn ignition off. Horn will "chirp" to confirm end of programming mode. Check system operation.

NOTE: The remote/keyless entry module erases all previous transmitters from memory when the transmitters are programmed or re-programmed. The remote/keyless entry module can store up to four transmitters in memory.
