Test F - Wipers Run With Switch Off

- Inspect fuses, connections, and wiring. If all are okay, go to next step. Repair any obvious defects.
- Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located under left side of instrument panel, next to steering column. Following NGS tester manufacturer's instructions, retrieve continuous DTC's. Perform ON-DEMAND SELF-TESTΒ
. If no DTC exists, go to next step. If any DTCs exist, perform the following:
- If DTC B1431, B1446, B1476 and B1473 exist, repair short in the White wire between GEM and run relay. Run relay is located on the left fender apron.
- If DTC B1441 and B1467 exist, repair short in Light Blue /Orange wire between wiper switch and GEM.
- If DTC B1448, B1473, B1446 and B1476 exist, repair the open in the Black wire between wiper motor and GEM. See WIRING DIAGRAMSΒ .
- If DTC B1467 or B1446 exists, temporarily substitute a known good run relay and retest system.
- Turn wipers off. Using NGS tester, access WASH-WS PID from PID/DATA monitor menu. If NGS tester indicates switch is off, inspect for short to voltage in Dark Blue/Orange or White wire between HI-LO relay and wiper motor. If wires are okay, test wiper switch. Refer to WIPER SWITCH TESTΒ under TESTING - COMPONENT TESTING. Replace switch as necessary.
