Cruise Control Switch: Service and Repair

1996 Ford E 350 Van V8-460 7.5LSECTION Service and Repair
1. Disable air bag system.
2. Remove four air bag module to steering wheel attaching nuts, then lift module rearward from steering wheel.
3. Disconnect air bag electrical connector from clockspring contact connector.
4. Remove air bag module from steering wheel.

NOTE: Position air bag module on bench with trim cover facing upward.

5. Disconnect horn/speed control black wire harness connector from clockspring contact connector located in upper center of steering wheel.
6. Remove two steering column switch attaching screws.
7. Remove electrical tape from electrical connectors located at each upper clip in steering wheel.
8. Disconnect speed control switch wires at untapped wire connectors, then remove switches.
9. Reverse procedure to install. Torque air bag module to steering wheel nut and washer assemblies to 35-53 in lb.
