REMEMBER

To prevent the replacement of good components, be aware that the following non-EEC areas may be at fault.

- Idle speed/throttle stop adjustment

- Binding throttle shaft/linkage or speed control linkage.

- Choke/high cam system

- TP sensor may not be seated properly


This Pinpoint Test is intended to diagnose only the following:

- Throttle Position (TP) sensor

- Sensor harness circuits: VREF, TP, and SIG RTN

- Processor assembly

DESCRIPTION

The Throttle Position (TP) sensor is a potentiometer that provides a signal to the EEC processor that is directly proportional to throttle plate position.
