- Disconnect battery ground cable and disable air bag system. Remove steering wheel. See STEERING WHEEL & HORN PADΒ . See Figure . Remove upper and lower column shrouds. Disconnect electrical connector from key warning switch.
- Using channel lock pliers, twist lock cylinder cap until it separates from lock cylinder. Using a 3/8" (9.5 mm) drill bit, drill down middle of ignition lock key slot about 1 3/4" inch (44 mm) until lock cylinder breaks loose from base of lock cylinder.
- Remove retainer, washer, ignition switch and actuator. Remove shavings from column housing. Replace column housing if damaged.
