Single Switch (Cougar & Thunderbird)

1991 Ford Thunderbird LX, 5.0 TSECTION Single Switch (Cougar & Thunderbird)
  1. Remove switch from vehicle. Test with a self-powered test light or ohmmeter. With switch in NEUTRAL position, there should be continuity between terminals No. 1 and 2 and terminals No. 3 and 4. Terminal No. 5 should show no continuity to any other terminal.
  2. When the ribbed portion of switch knobs is pushed (closed position), there should be continuity between terminals No. 1 and 5 and terminals No. 3 and 4. Terminal No. 2 should show no continuity to any other terminal.
  3. When flat portion of switch knobs is pushed (open position), there should be continuity between terminals No. 1 and 2 and terminals No. 4 and 5. Terminal No. 2 should show no continuity to any other terminal. See Fig 1 . If switch does not test as described, replace switch.
