Air Bag System Functional Test

1991 Ford Taurus L, 4D Sedan, 3.8 4SECTION Air Bag System Functional Test
  1. Disconnect negative battery cable and back-up power supply. Remove jumper wire from air bag terminals on clockspring assembly, if connected. Reconnect air bag module connector.
  2. Position air bag module on steering wheel and secure with 4 nuts and washers. Tighten air bag module to 35-53 INCH lbs. (4-6 N.m). Connect negative battery cable and air bag back-up power supply.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to RUN position. If AIR BAG light comes on continuously for 4 to 8 seconds and then goes out, air bag system is functioning properly.
