Removal
1. Disconnect primary wire connector from distributor.
2. Using a screwdriver, remove distributor cap, and position aside with wires attached.
3. Remove distributor rotor.
4. Note position of shaft plate, armature and rotor locating holes for assembly reference, then remove distributor hold-down bolt and clamp and the distributor. Some models use special distributor hold-down bolts. To remove these bolts, use tool No. T82L-12270-A or equivalent.
Installation
1. Rotate distributor by hand to ensure free rotation.
2. Ensure base O-ring is in place, then position rotor locating holes in original locations.
3. Install distributor, ensuring TFI-IV module is in same position relative to engine as when it was removed.
4. Install hold-down bolt and tighten until distributor can just barely be rotated.
5. Install distributor and torque screws to 25---35 inch lbs.
6. Reconnect wiring harness to distributor, then install distributor cap and torque screws to 17---23 inch lbs.
7. Adjust ignition timing to specifications, then torque distributor hold-down bolt to 6---8.5 ft. lbs.
