Inertia Switch
The inertia switch is located in trunk on left hinge support of Cougar and Thunderbird models. To reset inertia switch after checking for leaks, depress button on top of switch. When inertia switch button is in reset position, it can be depressed an additional 1/16" (1.5 mm) against internal spring. This is normal and does not indicate a faulty inertia switch.

When to See a Mechanic
