EGR Reminder Light Reset Procedure

1987 Ford Econoline E150, Van Cargo Extended, 5.0 NSECTION EGR Reminder Light Reset Procedure
  1. Turn ignition off. Insert Phillips screwdriver into hole in timer unit. While lightly pushing screwdriver in, turn ignition switch to the "RUN" position.
  2. With EGR reminder light on, hold screwdriver in place for 5 seconds. Remove screwdriver. Reminder light should go out in 2-5 seconds. If not, repeat steps 1) and 2).
  3. Turn ignition off. Turn ignition switch to the "RUN" position. Reminder light should come on for 2-5 seconds and then go out. This checks proper reset of light module.
NOTE: Reminder light is activated by an electronic module which senses engine-on time rather than actual mileage. Reminder light is designed to come on at approximately 60,000 miles.
