- Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove EIC and prevent connections from shorting. Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance between pins 13C and 14C. See Figure . If resistance is 14-163 ohms, replace tach/multigauge module and recheck cluster operation. If resistance is not between 14 and 163 ohms, go to next step.
- Disconnect negative battery cable. Lower fuel tank to gain access to fuel sending unit connector. Unplug fuel sending unit connector. Measure resistance between pins 13C and 14C. If resistance is not 14-163 ohms, replace tach/multigauge module and recheck cluster operation. If resistance is higher than 163 ohms, go to next step.
- Disconnect negative battery cable. Lower fuel tank to gain access to fuel sending unit connector. Unplug fuel sending unit connector. Measure resistance between pins 13C and 14C of cluster. If resistance is greater than 10,000 ohms, replace fuel sending unit and recheck cluster operation. If resistance is less than 10,000 ohms, correct short in harness.
