1. Disconnect battery ground cables from both battery assemblies.
2. Remove cooling fan and shroud assembly.
3. Remove water pump pulley, crankshaft pulley, upper and lower timing belt covers, timing belts and crankshaft sprocket.
4. Loosen oil pan attaching bolts, then remove 6 front oil pan to front case bolts.
5. Remove pipe plug from righthand side of engine block. Insert a suitable screwdriver into hole to prevent righthand silent shaft from rotating.
6. Remove nut attaching silent shaft sprocket to drive gear, then the sprocket.
7. Remove bolts attaching front case to engine block, then the front case, Fig. 26.
8. Remove silent shaft reverse gear cover, silent shaft and gears from engine block. Remove oil pump cover.
9. Place alignment marks on oil pump gears, then remove pump gears. Do not use a sharp tool to place alignment marks on oil pump drive, inner or outer gears.
10. Using tool T58L-101-B or equivalent, remove silent shaft reverse rotation drive gear oil seal from lower front case assembly, Fig. 27.

11. Reverse procedure to install and note the following:
a. Using a 21 mm socket and hammer, install silent shaft oil seal into lower front case assembly.
b. Install seal protector tool T85T-6150-A or equivalent, onto drive gear before installation.
c. Install silent shaft reverse rotation gears with marks properly aligned as shown in Fig. 28.
d. During installation of oil pump, ensure marks placed on pump gears during removal are correctly aligned.
e. During installation of front cover, ensure correct length bolts are installed in their original locations as shown in Fig. 29.
f. During installation of silent shaft sprocket, ensure ``D'' flat on silent shaft sprocket aligns with ``D'' flat on shaft, Fig. 30.
