Hard Cold Start

  1. Choke system may not be functioning correctly. Check linkage for proper operation and adjustment. Clean, service or replace as required.
  2. Choke thermostat housing may be incorrectly adjusted. Adjust choke thermostat setting if needed. If it is a tamperproof type, check for incorrect assembly.
  3. Intake manifold or fuel charging assembly baskets may be leaking. Replace leaking gaskets as needed.
