- If engine stalls in Self-Test, runs rough or misses, check the following: Poor power/ground connections, ignition system problem, engine internal problem (valves, cam timing, compression, etc.), EGR valve or fuel system.
- If shift indicator light is always on or always off, go to Test Y. If A/C does not cut off during wide open throttle operation, or is not functioning, go to TEST K - (DC MOTOR) IDLE SPEED CONTROL (ISC DC MOTOR) . If there is high or low idle speed on start up, or engine diesels, go TEST Z - KEY POWER TEST .
- If gasoline fumes accumulate under hood, check fuel system and canister purge system. If there is a lack of fast idle with A/C on, go to TEST K - (DC MOTOR) IDLE SPEED CONTROL (ISC DC MOTOR) .
