Test Cc - Converter Clutch Override (CCO)

1985 Ford Bronco 5.8 G, Standard, NP435SECTION Test Cc - Converter Clutch Override (CCO)
  1. Code 89. Turn key on. Set DVOM on 20 volt scale. Measure voltage at the CCO solenoid connector between VPWR and ground. If voltage reading is less than 10.5 volts, repair open circuit in harness. Repeat Self-Test. If voltage reading is more than 10.5 volts, go to step Β 2 .
  2. Turn key off and wait 10 seconds. Disconnect processor 60 pin connector and inspect for damaged pins, corrosion, loose wires, etc. Repair as necessary and go to step Β 3 .
  3. Connect breakout box to harness. Leave processor disconnected. Set DVOM on 200 ohm scale. Measure resistance between test pin 53/22 and CCO circuit at the solenoid harness connector. If resistance readings are 5 ohms or greater, repair harness circuit. Repeat QUICK TESTSΒ  . If resistance reading is less than 5 ohms, go to step Β 4 .
  4. Turn key off and wait 10 seconds. Leave breakout box installed and processor disconnected. Disconnect CCO solenoid. Set DVOM on 200K ohm scale. Measure resistance between test pin 55 and test pins 40, 46 and 60. If resistance readings are less than 10K ohms, repair short to ground. Repeat Self Test. If resistance readings are 10K ohms or greater, go to step Β 5 .
  5. Turn key off and wait 10 seconds. Set DVOM on 200K ohm scale. Leave breakout box installed and processor disconnected. Disconnect CCO solenoid. Measure resistance between test pin 55 and pins 37 and 57. If resistance reading is 10K ohms or greater, replace processor. Repeat Self Test. If resistance reading is less than 10K ohms, repair short to power supply. Repeat Self Test. If code is still present, replace processor.
