Spicer (Dana) drive axles have a removable rear cover plate. The cover plate has a unique shape, that allows positive identifi- cation of Spicer (Dana) drive axles on any vehicle. See Fig 1 .

The axle model is often cast into the differential housing, or it can be determined by measuring the diameter of the ring gear.
