| 3 - Electric Vehicle Control Unit (EVCU) |
On BEV vehicles, the Electric Vehicle Control Unit (EVCU) is used to control the HV functions. This is a low voltage controller. This controller monitors the HV system and has several inputs and outputs. The EVCU has the following primary functions:
OPERATION
The MCP interfaces with and controls a number of powertrain systems.
- The EVCU communicates with the MCPA for electric motor functions.
- The EVCU communicates with the IDCM for 12 volt and HV system charging.
- The EVCU has these inputs:
- Fused B+, Fused Ignition, Wake-up and grounds.
- Temperature inlet sensors.
- Accelerator pedal position.
- Coolant pump monitoring input speed.
- Accelerator pedal position.
- A/C pressure sensors.
- LIN Bus circuits.
- CAN Bus circuits.
The EVCU has these outputs:
- Coolant pump control.
- Coolant valve control.
- EVSE lock output control.
- Electric coolant heater control.
- Accelerator pedal position request.
- A/C compressor control.
- LIN Bus circuits.
- CAN Bus circuits.
