Module, Electronic Shift (ESM): Operation
The E-shifter communicates with the TCM (Transmission Control Module) via CAN C. The rotary e-shifter assembly incorporates P, R, N, D. Each shifter position has a detent to keep the knob in the position it is placed in. The e-shifter assembly incorporates an actuator that allows the knob to be locked for purposes of brake/transmission interlock (BTSI) function. Locking is controlled by the TCM via CAN message. The shifter will be serviced as an assembly.
