Removal And Installation: Left

2024 Dodge and Ram 1500 TRXSECTION Left

REMOVAL 

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable(s). Refer to BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT - SINGLE 12V BATTERY SYSTEM, 6.2L .
  2. Saturate the exhaust flange bolts with Mopar® rust penetrant. Allow 5 minutes for penetration.
  3. Remove the transfer case skid plate. Refer to PLATE, SKID, TRANSFER CASE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  4. Remove the bolts (1) securing the exhaust Y-pipe (2) and position back.
  5. Disconnect the lower oxygen sensor wire harness connectors and detach the wire harness retainer.

  6. Remove the bolts (1) securing the catalytic converter (2) to the exhaust manifold.
  7. If necessary, remove the lower Oxygen (O2) sensor.

INSTALLATION 

  1. If removed, install the lower O2 sensor and tighten to the proper torque specifications. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .

  2. Using a NEW  gasket, install the catalytic converter (2) and tighten the bolts (1) to the proper torque specifications. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  3. Connect the lower O2 sensor wire harness connectors and attach the wire harness.

  4. Position the exhaust Y-pipe (2) then install the bolts (1) and tighten to the proper torque specifications. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  5. Install the transfer case skid plate. Refer to PLATE, SKID, TRANSFER CASE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  6. Check the exhaust system for proper clearance with the frame and underbody parts. A minimum clearance of 25.4 mm (1.0 in.) is required.
  7. Connect the negative battery cable(s). Refer to BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT - SINGLE 12V BATTERY SYSTEM, 6.2L .
  8. Start the vehicle and inspect for exhaust leaks. Repair exhaust leaks as necessary.
