Removal And Installation: Right
2024 Dodge and Ram 1500 TRXSECTION Right

REMOVAL
WARNING:
If torches are used when servicing the exhaust system, do not allow any flame near the fuel lines or the fuel tank. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable(s). Refer to BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT - ETORQUE SYSTEM, 3.6L & 5.7L EZL .
- Remove the right front tire and wheel assembly. Refer to TIRE & WHEEL, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the right wheelhouse splash shield. Refer to SHIELD, SPLASH, FRONT WHEELHOUSE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION and/or SHIELD, SPLASH, REAR WHEELHOUSE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Saturate the exhaust flange bolts with heat valve lubricant. Allow 5 minutes for penetration.
- Disconnect the upper oxygen sensor wire harness connectors (1) and detach the wire retainer (2).
- Disconnect the lower oxygen sensor wire harness connectors (1).
- Remove the upper catalytic converter flange bolts (1) and loosen the lower bolts.
- Remove the nuts (2) and the right catalytic converter (1).
- Remove the lower bolts (1) and the exhaust flange gasket (2).
- If required, remove the oxygen sensors.
INSTALLATION
- If removed, install the oxygen sensors and tighten to the proper torque specifications. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
.
- Install a NEW
gasket (2) and the lower bolts (1) to the cylinder head.
- Install the right catalytic converter (1) and tighten the nuts (2) finger tight.
- Install the upper catalytic converter flange bolts (1) and tighten to the proper torque specifications. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Tighten the lower bolts to the proper torque specifications. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS

- Tighten the catalytic converter to exhaust Y-pipe nuts (2) and tighten to the proper torque specifications. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
.
- Connect the lower oxygen sensor wire harness connectors (1).
- Connect the upper oxygen sensor wire harness connectors (1) and attach the wire harness retainer (2).
- Check the exhaust system for proper clearance with the frame and underbody parts. A minimum clearance of 25.4 mm (1.0 in.) is required.
- Install the right wheelhouse splash shield. Refer to SHIELD, SPLASH, FRONT WHEELHOUSE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION and/or SHIELD, SPLASH, REAR WHEELHOUSE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the left front tire and wheel assembly. Refer to TIRE & WHEEL, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Start the vehicle and inspect for exhaust leaks. Repair exhaust leaks as necessary.
- Connect the negative battery cable.
