Trailer Surround View Camera Module (Stim)
The Trailer Surround View Camera Module (STIM) is the micro-processor in the dealer installed Mopar® Trailer Surround View Camera kit that includes:
- four trailer mounted cameras; front, rear, left and right
- individual Low Voltage Differential Signal (LVDS) harnesses for each camera
- a 12-terminal wiring harness that connects between the STIM and trailer connector on the vehicle
The STIM receives LVDS video feed from the four trailer mounted cameras and transmits the feed to the radio screen or Display Screen Module (DSM) as an NTSC Differential Video Signal through the 12-way connector. The STIM will also stitch the four trailer video feeds into 1 surround view image for the trailer.
The Trailer Surround System uses multiple cameras to provide a bird's eye view of the trailer with selectable views of the front, rear, left, and right. The values of the trailer are entered by the operator of the vehicle through the radio using the radio screen or the Display Screen Module (DSM) as equipped over the Controller Area Network - Internal High Speed (CAN-IHS) through the Trailer CAN Gateway Module (TGWM) . The STIM learns the trailer information after receiving the following valid values about the trailer through the radio:
- trailer length (maximum 53 ft.)
- trailer width (maximum 8 ft. 6 in.)
- trailer height (maximum 13 ft. 6 in.)
- trailer type (conventional or gooseneck/5th wheel)
The Radio will display the trailer values in the trailer surround settings. The STIM broadcasts the related trailer information over the proprietary CAN to the Trailer CAN Gateway Module (TGWM). The STIM will transmit "Not Programmed" when the information about the trailer is not received. The STIM performs a camera calibration after being fully programmed or every time a different valid value is received from the previously stored value.
For additional information about the STIM and how it interacts with the TGWM. Refer to MODULE, TRAILER CAN GATEWAY MODULE (TCGWM), DESCRIPTION .
