Diagnostic Test

2023 Dodge and Ram ProMaster 3500 CutawaySECTION Diagnostic Test
  1. READ AND RECORD DTCS AND ENVIRONMENTAL DATA - ERASE DTCS AND CHECK FOR DTC TO RETURN 
    1. With the scan tool, read DTCs in all Electronic Control Units (ECUs) and record on the repair order.
    2. With the scan tool, run a vehicle Scan Report, or record the Environmental Data related to the DTCs.
    3. With the scan tool, erase all DTCs.
    4. Turn the ignition off for a minimum of 10 seconds.
    5. Turn the ignition on.
    6. Using the recorded Environmental Data and the When Monitored Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
    7. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

    Did the DTC return?

    Yes 

    • Go To  2

    No 

  2. CHECK FOR RIGHT CAMERA DTCS IN THE CVPM 
    1. Refer to the saved DTC information recorded on the repair order.

      Were any Right Camera circuit voltage or performance DTCs set in the CVPM?

      Yes 

      No 

      • Go To  3
  3. INSPECT THE RIGHT CAMERA LVDS COAX CABLE CONNECTIONS 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Inspect the CVPM harness connector for a secure and undamaged connection.
    3. Inspect the Coax Cable in-line harness connectors for a secure and undamaged connection.
    4. Inspect the Right Camera harness connector for a secure and undamaged connection.

    Are all connections secure and undamaged?

    Yes 

    • Go To  4

    No 

    • Repair the cable connection as needed and check video operation.
    • Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST.
  4. CONNECT THE LVDS COAX CABLE ADAPTER TOOL BETWEEN THE CVPM AND THE RIGHT CAMERA - ERASE DTCS AND CHECK FOR DTC TO RETURN 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Disconnect the CVPM harness connector.
    3. Disconnect the Right Camera harness connector.
    4. Connect the RG-174 Coax Cable 9977-6-8 Adapter between the Right Camera and the CVPM connector.

      (special tool #9977-6-8, Adapter, RG-174 Coax Cable)

    5. Turn the ignition on.
    6. With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
    7. Turn the Radio on and wait 25 seconds.
    8. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

    Did the DTC return?

    Yes 

    • Go To  5

    No 

  5. CONNECT THE LVDS COAX CABLE ADAPTER TOOL BETWEEN THE CVPM AND A KNOWN GOOD CAMERA FROM THE VEHICLE - ERASE DTCS AND CHECK FOR DTC TO RETURN 
    1. Disconnect the RG-174 Coax Cable 9977-6-8 Adapter at the Right Camera.
    2. Disconnect a known good working Camera from the vehicle.
    3. Connect the RG-174 Coax Cable 9977-6-8 Adapter to the known good working Camera.

      (special tool #9977-6-8, Adapter, RG-174 Coax Cable)

    4. Turn the ignition on.
    5. With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
    6. Turn the Radio on and wait 25 seconds.
    7. With the scan tool, read CVPM DTCs.

    Did the DTC return?

    Yes 

    • Go To  6

    No 

  6. CHECK RELATED HARNESS CONNECTIONS 
    1. Disconnect all CVPM harness connectors.
    2. Disconnect all related in-line harness connections (if equipped).
    3. Disconnect the related component harness connectors.
    4. Inspect harness connectors, component connectors, and all male and female terminals for the following conditions:
      • Proper connector installation.
      • Damaged connector locks.
      • Corrosion.
      • Other signs of water intrusion.
      • Weather seal damage (if equipped).
      • Bent terminals.
      • Overheating due to a poor connection (terminal may be discolored due to excessive current draw).
      • Terminals that have been pushed back into the connector cavity.
      • Perform a terminal drag test on each connector terminal to verify proper terminal tension.

      Repair any conditions that are found.

    5. Reconnect all CVPM harness connectors. Be certain that all harness connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
    6. Reconnect all in-line harness connectors (if equipped). Be certain that all connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
    7. Reconnect all related component harness connectors. Be certain that all connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
    8. With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
    9. Using the recorded Environmental Data, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
    10. With the scan tool, read CVPM DTCs.

      Did the DTC return?

      Yes 

      No
