Antenna, BLUETOOTH/WIFI: Description
The Bluetooth®/Wi-Fi antenna (1) is mounted above the Passenger AirBag (PAB), behind the instrument panel cover. The Wi-Fi in-vehicle access point feature provides internet access in the vehicle, using the radio as the access point. The radio, cellular antenna, and customer device(s) are the major components used for data service access. The radio is capable of storing up to four different Wi-Fi networks and functions as a wireless bridge (not a router) between the cellular network and the Wi-Fi network in the car. It establishes a private, in-vehicle Wi-Fi internet access point. This access point allows the Wi-Fi to be enabled for in vehicle devices to wirelessly connect to the internet. The cellular network is transparent to the mobile devices. The radio supports the following Wi-Fi security methods:
- WEP
- WPA/WPA2
- Open
The antenna is used to receive and transmit the RF signals for Bluetooth® and Wi-Fi data. Wi-Fi is available, in markets that support Wi-Fi, when the vehicle is equipped with the 257 mm (10.1 inch) Display Screen Module (DSM) with a Uconnect® subscription. On vehicles that are equipped with the 178 mm (7.0 inch) screen radio, the Bluetooth® antenna is integral to the radio. The 178 mm (7.0 inch) radio also supports Wi-Fi with a Uconnect® subscription in markets that support Wi-Fi.

When to See a Mechanic
