Reprogramming Common Universal Transmitter Codes
To program a device to the HomeLinkĀ® transceiver using a button that has been previously programmed, follow these steps:
- Press and hold the desired HomeLinkĀ® transceiver button. DO NOTĀ release the button. The indicator light will begin to flash after 20 seconds. Without releasing the HomeLinkĀ® transceiver button, proceed to step 2.
- Position the end of your hand-held transmitter 3-8 cm (1-3 inches) away from the HomeLinkĀ® transceiver button while keeping the indicator light in view.
- Simultaneously press and hold both the HomeLinkĀ® transceiver button to be programmed and the hand-held transmitter buttons. Do not release the buttons until step 4 has been completed.Ā NOTE:
Some gate operators and garage door openers may require performing an alternative procedure for this step. If needed, perform the Step 3 procedure below, in CANADIAN REPROGRAMMING/GATE REPROGRAMMINGĀ .
- The HomeLinkĀ® transceiver indicator light will flash slowly and then rapidly after the HomeLinkĀ® transceiver successfully receives the frequency signal from the hand-held transmitter. Release both buttons after the indicator light changes from the slow to the rapid flash.
- Press and hold the selected reprogrammed HomeLinkĀ® transceiver button and observe the indicator light. If the indicator light illuminates constantly, reprogramming is completeĀ
and the device should activate when the button is pressed and released.NOTE:
If the indicator light blinks rapidly for two seconds and then illuminates constantly, continue with "Reprogramming" steps 6-8Ā to complete the reprogramming of a rolling code equipped device (most commonly a garage door opener).
- At the garage door opener receiver (motor-head unit) in the garage, locate the "learn" or "smart" button. This can usually be found where the hanging antenna wire is attached to the motor-head unit.
- Firmly press and release the "learn" or "smart" button (The name and color of the button may vary by manufacturer).NOTE:
Step 8 must be initiated within 30 seconds.
- Return to the vehicle and firmly press and holdĀ
the programmed HomeLinkĀ® transceiver button and release after two secondsĀ
. Repeat this "press/hold/release"Ā
sequence a second time, and depending on the brand of the garage door opener (or other rolling code equipped device) repeat this sequence a third time, to complete the reprogramming.
The HomeLinkĀ® transceiver should now activate your rolling code equipped device.
