Diagnostic Test
2023 Dodge and Ram Durango R/T Plus, RWDSECTION Diagnostic Test
- CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC
- Turn the ignition on.
- Turn the Park Lamps on.
- With the scan tool, read the Body Control Module (BCM) DTCs and record on the repair order.
Is the DTC active?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- The condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals and correct pin tension. If no problems are found, test complete.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
- CHECK THE LEFT LICENSE LAMP FOR AN INTERNAL SHORT
- Turn the Park Lamps off.
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the Left License Lamp harness connector.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Turn the Park Lamps on.
- With the scan tool, read the BCM DTCs.
Is the DTC active?
Yes
- Go To 3
No
- Replace the Left License Lamp in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to LAMP, LICENSE PLATE, REMOVAL .
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
- CHECK THE RIGHT LICENSE LAMP FOR AN INTERNAL SHORT
- Turn the Park Lamps off.
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the Right License Lamp harness connector.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Turn the Park Lamps on.
- With the scan tool, read the BCM DTCs.
Is the DTC active?
Yes
- Go To 4
No
- Replace the Right License Lamp in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to LAMP, LICENSE PLATE, REMOVAL .
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
- CHECK THE CENTER TAIL LAMP ASSEMBLY FOR AN INTERNAL SHORT
- Turn the Park Lamps off.
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the Center Tail Lamp Assembly harness connector.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Turn the Park Lamps on.
- With the scan tool, read the BCM DTCs.
Is the DTC active?
Yes
- Go To 5
No
- Replace the Center Rear Park Lamp in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to LAMP, TAIL STOP TURN, REMOVAL .
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
- CHECK THE (L72) RIGHT FRONT PARK LAMP DRIVER CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the BCM C5/E harness connector.
- Check for continuity between ground and the (L72) Right Rear Park Lamp Driver circuit at the Center Rear Tail Lamp Assembly harness connector.
Is there continuity between ground and the (L72) Right Rear Park Lamp Driver circuit?
Yes
- Repair the short to ground in the (L72) Right Rear Park Lamp Driver circuit.
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Replace the Body Control Module (BCM) in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULE, BODY CONTROL (BCM), REMOVAL .
- Perform the BODY VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to BODY VERIFICATION TEST .
