- Remove oil pressure sending unit. Refer to SENSOR, OIL PRESSURE, REMOVALΒ .
- Install gauge assembly (special tool #C-3292A, Gauge, Pressure).
- Run engine until thermostat opens.
- Check oil pressure gauge:
- Curb Idle-25 kPa (4 psi) minimum amount of pressure to lubricate engine
- 1000 rpm-234 kPa (34 psi) for a VVT engine to activate VVT
- 3000 rpm-170 - 758 kPa (25 - 110 psi)
- If oil pressure is 0 at idle, shut off engine. Check for a clogged oil pick-up screen or a pressure relief valve stuck open.
