WARNING:

Before servicing the steering column the airbag system must be disarmed. Failure to do so may result in accidental deployment of the airbag and possible personal injury.

  1. Position front wheels straight ahead.
  2. Disconnect and isolate the negative (ground) cable from the battery.
  3. Disable and remove the drivers side airbag. Refer to AIR BAG, DRIVER, REMOVAL .
  4. Disconnect all electrical connectors.
  5. Remove the steering wheel bolt (1).
  6. Remove steering wheel damper, if equipped.
  7. Slide the steering wheel (2) off the steering column assembly.
