Charging System (Service Information): Generator: Removal: 6.4L

2023 Dodge and Ram Durango GT, RWDSECTION 6.4L
WARNING:

Disconnect the negative cable from the battery before removing the battery output wire (B+ wire) from the generator. Failure to do so can result in injury or damage to the electrical system.

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the air cleaner body. Refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER (6.4L) .
  3. Remove the serpentine belt. Refer to BELT, SERPENTINE, REMOVAL .
  4. Remove the right front splash shield Refer to SHIELD, SPLASH, WHEELHOUSE, REMOVAL .
  5. Unsnap the plastic insulator cap from the B+ output terminal.
  6. Remove the B+ terminal mounting nut at the rear of the generator. Disconnect the terminal from the generator.

  7. Disconnect the field wire connector (3) at the rear of the generator by pushing on the connector tab.
  8. Remove the upper and lower rear generator mounting bolts (1).
    NOTE:

    Not required to loosen the bracket bolt, the generator will slide out.

  9. Remove the lower front stud nut bolt (2).
  10. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
  11. If needed position the supercharger coolant lines aside.
  12. Remove the generator from vehicle from above.
