Theory Of Operation - Trailer Surround View Camera Module
The Trailer Surround View Camera Module (or abbreviated -STIM) is a MOPAR accessory module installed on the trailer. The vehicle must be built with this option and it cannot be added retroactively. It is the primary module needed to transmit a 360Β° view of a connected trailer to the head unit. The Trailer 360Β° system consist of the module, 4 cameras, and necessary harnesses. The cameras are located at the rear, front, and sides of the trailer. They connected to the STIM via coaxial cable. The STIM will then broadcast the video feed via CAN to the head unit. The head unit can then provide individual trailer camera views based on user input, a Trailer 360Β° view or a rear trailer camera view based on PRNDL status.
The Trailer Gateway Control Module (TGWM) serves as a security gateway for the STIM and gates messages between the STIM and radio,
The STIM module, cameras, and harnesses are available to be replaced individually.
