Pedal, Accelerator: Installation

The Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor (APPS) and the accelerator pedal is serviced as a complete assembly including the bracket.

  1. Position the accelerator pedal assembly onto the two mounting studs.
  2. Install the three accelerator pedal retaining bracket nuts (1) and tighten to the proper specifications. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONSΒ  .
  3. Connect the accelerator pedal electrical connector (2) to the APPS.
  4. Use a scan tool to learn electrical parameters. Go to the Miscellaneous menu, and then select ETC Learn.
  5. If the previous step is not performed, a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) will be set.
  6. If necessary, also use a scan tool to erase any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC's) from the PCM.
  7. Before starting the engine, operate the accelerator pedal to check for any binding.
