Occupant Restraint Controller: Removal

  1. Open deck lid.
  2. Remove four bolts to battery compartment cover and remove cover.
  3. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
  4. Wait two minutes for the airbag system reserve capacitor to discharge before beginning any airbag system or instrument panel component service.
  5. Remove six Allen screws to shifter bezel.
  6. Remove shifter shaft with knob and body.
  7. Remove floor console bezel and parking brake body.
  8. Remove eight screws and disconnect one electrical connector to center console and remove console from vehicle.
  9. Remove six screws and disconnect one electrical connector to instrument panel center bezel and remove bezel from vehicle.
  10. Using a trim stick (special tool #C-4755) or equivalent, gently pry out on cluster bezel.
  11. Disconnect one electrical connector and remove bezel from instrument panel.
  12. Remove radio and electrical connections.
  13. Remove two electrical connectors to Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC).
  14. From inside center stack area, remove four retaining bolts to ORC and remove from floor tunnel.
