- Turn the ignition switch to the Off position. Be certain that all electrical accessories are turned off.
- Remove the spare tire cover to gain access to the battery.
- Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable (3).
- Raise vehicle on hoist, (Refer to LUBRICATION & MAINTENANCE/HOISTING - STANDARD PROCEDURE) .
- Remove the right front wheelhouse splash shield to gain access to the battery positive cable bulkhead outside terminal, (Refer to BODY/EXTERIOR/RF WHEELHOUSE SPLASH SHIELD - REMOVAL) .
- Remove the battery positive cable to bulkhead fastener.
- Remove the battery positive cable to starter fastener.
- On the 2.7L and 3.5L free the battery positive cable from the routing clips located at the back of the engine.
- On the 5.7L free the battery positive cable from the routing clip located at the back of the starter.
- Remove the battery positive cable from the vehicle making note of the cable routing.
