Scan Tool Diagnostic Mode

- Turn ignition off. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). See DATA LINK CONNECTOR (DLC)Β table for connector location. See Fig 1-3.DATA LINK CONNECTOR (DLC)
Application DLC Location Dakota & Ram Pickup Right Rear Corner Of Engine Compartment Ram Van/Wagon Center Of Dash Panel In Engine Compartment, Near PCM - Start engine (if possible). With foot on brake, move transmission shift lever through all positions, ending in Park. Turn A/C switch on and then off (if equipped).
- Turn engine off. Without starting engine again, turn ignition on. Using scan tool, access and record trouble codes.
- When scan tool trouble code message is obtained, refer to appropriate test number. To clear trouble codes, see CLEARING TROUBLE CODESΒ .
